O Rio Grande do Norte has privileged localization of the inside economic view. It can be said that the State is in the corner of South American continent in a central position between Europe, North America, Africa and, through the Canal of Panama, also of Asia. Moreover, he is practically in the way of Brazil, an almost equidistant point between the North and the Southeast it country. With 410 coast km, the RN has the biggest coastal density of the country. It from there comes its fishing vocation and its good results in the aqüicultura and the tourist exploration, beyond the privilege adding the biggest salineiro polar region of Brazil.
The climate is predominantly half-barren with annual temperatures that vary between an average minim of 18,3º C and an average principle of 31º C, and possue the best quality of air of Americas. In accordance with given preliminary of Census 2000, carried through for the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Estatística (IBGE), the RN has a population of 2,7 million inhabitants, of which 709 a thousand lives in its capital. Its medium age is of 22 years and the productive etária band represents 45% of the total. Of the busy population, 30% are in the primary sector, 19% in secondary and 51% in the tertiary one. The average tax of annual growth of the population is of 2 %.O Been of the RN is situated in the point of the South America next to the European and African continent and possesss 410km of Atlantic coast, of which many stretches still is vacated.
This strategical importance took the Americans during the World War II to host in Parnamirim, next city the capital, an important naval air base destined to control the communication with Africa through the Atlantic, what it came to contribute in the social and economic development of the State.
